Snowboard

Snowboarding is inspired by skateboarding, surfing and skiing. It was developed in the United States in the 1960´s and became a Winter Olympic Sport at Nagano in the year of 1998 and in the Paralympics in Sochi 2014.
Snowboarding began 1965 in Muskegon, Michigan, when Sherman Poppen invented a toy for his daughter. He fastened two skis togheter attached to a rope to one end for better control. BOOOM!! The "Snurfer" was born! A mixture between Snowboaring and Surfing. The toy proved so popular among his daughters' friends that Poppen licensed the idea to a manufacturer, which was called Brunswick corp, that sold about a million snurfers over the decade. And in the year 1966 over more than a half million snurfers where sold!
Over the comming years about 1977ish the Snurfer became more functional with bindings, boots and different materials build by names like Jake Burton, Tom Sims or Mike Olson. All known today as pioneers in the Snowboard world!
Today more than 6,6 Million people are riding snowboard and its one of the most grown boardsports ever.
There are different styles of riding. Freestyle for people who do tricks on kickers and rails or Freeride in deep powder which is most likely to surfing waves in the ocean.
